Everyone responds differently to being in Sacred Space. Although EC approach is gentle and compassionate sometimes this work can go quite deep and make hidden parts of ourselves easier to access. The Participant may (or may not) experience any of the following a ceremony or healing:
Insights and clarity as to what you can focus on moving forward. Your goals and desires may feel more achievable. Your energy levels may fluctuate from exhaustion to feeling “high”.
You may feel calmer, more relaxed, free, light, at ease, expansive, more present, embodied and grounded.
Or you may feel more emotionally heavy as you clear out old, repressed emotions. Sadness, grief, anger can re/surface. You may think you have moved through an emotion or situation to find it returns you back to a deeper or unmet truth.
You may experience physical symptoms such as heaviness, tiredness, the need to go to the toilet more frequently, aches and pain, headache or cold-like symptoms. These physical detox symptoms usually pass quickly and are your body’s way of releasing/letting go.
Trust that whatever arises for you is here for your loving attention & honouring at a time you are ready to work with it.
It is best if you avoid any unhelpful coping mechanisms like sugar, alcohol, negative people/places etc.
It is helpful for you to do things that feel nourishing following a ceremony. For example, eat healthy food, drink plenty of water, get a good night’s sleep, invite gentle movement, spend time in nature, rest, journal, dance, walk, shake.
What can you do to support the integration of a ceremony/healing?
Give yourself some time and space to reflect on what you experienced. Don’t be in such a rush to get back to the usual structure of your day to day life and allow the session to integrate.
You might like to go for a gentle walk outside in nature, meditate, have a soothing bath or shower and/or do some journal writing to reflect on what you experienced.
If you have a therapist or other professionals who you work with, you may benefit from a session with them to explore what has come up for you. As it is important to look at things from a holistic perspective.
